Again? Salmonella and Spinach

It is being reported that [tag]spinach[/tag] is being [tag]recall[/tag]ed over fears that it may be contaminated with salmonella.

Metz Fresh is the name of the company which is based in California and is voluntarily recalling bags of their spinach after finding salmonella bacteria while performing routine testing.

To date there have been no cases of salmonella poisoning linked to Metz Fresh spinach, and the company is advising anybody who may have purchased any of the spinach to throw it away at once.

[tag]Salmonella[/tag] [tag]bacteria[/tag] can make a person quite sick, causing diarrhea, fever, and abdominal cramps in people.

The spinach in question is 10-ounce and 16-ounce bags as well as certain cartons of bagged spinach distributed to food service companies.

The recall only includes Metz Fresh [tag]bagged spinach[/tag] of specific lots which were distributed in the continental U.S. and Canada.

“Nothing is more important to Metz Fresh than the safety of our customers, period,” says Andrew Cumming, president of [tag]Metz Fresh[/tag], in a news release.

The company also says that they are currently working in conjunction with the FDA to determine the route of the problem.
